The Czech Class 384 higher speed Siemens Vectrons are capable of achieving 230 km/h.
The Czech Railways ČD have 50 of these on order and the first batch entered revenue service between Prague and South Moravia in late September 2025. The first deployment pattern was on the R category fast trains (Rychlik) between Praha hl. n and Staré Město u Uherského Hradiště. České dráhy initially deployed 384 022, 023 and 024, with six in revenue service as of late 2025.
The real purpose of these new Siemens flagship locomotives will be the long crossborder EuroCity trains to Berlin, Hamburg and Copenhagen, where they will be able to use their 230 km/h top speed between Berlin and Hamburg. The same also applies for trips on the new Koralmbahn in Austria, where they can also be let loose to run 230 km/h.
In these filmed impressions from December 2025 the Class 384 is seen at a more casual pace, on the approach to different Prague stations, such as the main station Praha hlavní nádraží or other calling points like Praha Vršovice and Praha Libeň.
As common as the modular Vectron series has become across Europe as on both freight and passenger trains, the ČD Class 384 are the only Vectron variants in revenue service as of 2025 capable of the new benchmark of 230 km/h.
The Class 384 is easy to spot and simple to separate from the "slower" 200 km/h capable Vectron of ČD, thanks to their distinctive white and blue streak livery.
