Horton feels depression and that he has fail the Mayer and the people of whoville when he is chasing Mr. Vladikoff up the mountain, when Horton sees the speck in Mr. Vladikoff claws he charges straight at him, but he waits until horton was close enough, then he drops the flower over the edge in a pile of flowers that looks the exact same one.
