Barnabas returned to Cyprus, his native land, to continue spreading the gospel. Despite his earlier successes in missionary work, he faced strong opposition.
It is traditionally believed that Barnabas was martyred in Cyprus. The exact circumstances of his death are not well-documented in historical records, but according to tradition, he was dragged out of the synagogue in Salamis, where he had been preaching, and stoned to death by a mob of Jews who opposed his message. This violent end came despite his previous efforts and the earlier support he received from fellow believers.
