One of the unique aspects of the Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage is that the temples are not all associated with one branch or sect of Buddhism. Temple 76, Konzōji - 金倉寺, Golden Store-house Temple, is one of eight Tendai sect temples along the pilgrimage. This Daishido Hall, actually houses both Kobo Daishi and Chisho Daishi, a nephew of Kobo Daishi and a very important figure in Tendai Buddhism. Because of Chisho’s importance and because this is a Tendai temple, he is the central figure in the Daishido Hall. Kobo Daishi is on the right as you face the hall. Thus, when if you want to recite your sutras to Kobo Daishi stand on the right. This is a fairly open and large temple.
