I finally got around to installing a ProClip phone mount into my 2019 Golf R. You have to buy two parts: The vehicle specific mount, and then the phone specific holder. Here are the parts I installed:
VW Golf Angled Mount - ProClip Angled Mount
2013-2019 Volkswagen Golf (GTI) VII

Adjustable iPhone Holder
Apple iPhone 11 Pro
Item: 711013
As you can see, the install is pretty simple, and this is probably one of the best setups out there. They have mounts for a ton of vehicles, and likely most phones.
