Fortunate Son - by John Fogerty - covered by Chris Wilson
I'm back this week with a "delta bluesy" take on the Creedance classic Fortunate Son. I stumbled upon a documentary about their history and performance at the Royal Albert Hall in 1970, and that spawned the idea to take this tune and deconstruct it. (Funny, I'm just realizing how many of my song ideas come from documentaries)
I also recently acquired a lav mic, and I've been experimenting with it for acoustic guitar. Because of the way that I play with my fingers and my loud voice, it's always hard to record guitar and voice together without the voice overpowering the guitar. I also don't really like the sound of most pickups for acoustics, so I'll try just about anything. Not sure the lavaliere is the answer, but it's always good to have more options in the arsenal.
