In this video I teach how to make metsubushi, also known as ninja blinding powder. This is one of the famous ninja tools/weapons used as a means of escape from the enemy.

Metsubushi (目潰し) are a variety of implements and techniques that were used in feudal Japan by the ninja and samurai as a way to attack the eyes for a quick escape. The ninjas job as a spy, was to steal the information and to get it back to their lord. So methods of escape to avoid a fight was more important to the ninja. Metsubushi became popular during the edo period for the samurai police to temporarily blind or disorient a criminal so they could restrain them and take them to jail.

This lesson is directly for the practitioners of the ancient Japanese koryu martial arts of the ninja and samurai, such as ninjutsu (ninpo) and bujutsu (budo).
