How to Use Moving Averages: Tutorial (2025 Update)

In this video, we explore how to effectively use Moving Averages on TradingView, including the latest features such as adding a Moving Average on top of another Moving Average, and applying Bollinger Bands to your analysis. For example, a 5-period Simple Moving Average (SMA) calculates the average of the last 5 closing prices. If the closing prices over the last 5 days were 10, 12, 14, 16, and 18, the 5-period SMA would be:

(10 + 12 + 14 + 16 + 18) ÷ 5 = 14

This gives you a smoother line to identify trends, making it easier to see potential buy or sell signals.
