Open Conversation “Voices of Resistance – The Role of Student Protests in Shaping Serbia’s Future”
This Open Conversation was organised in Belgrade in June 2025 during the summer school “The Crossroads of Democracy and Development: Challenges and Innovations”.
The open discussion brought together students, professors, and researchers from various European universities to reflect on the importance of student activism and its impact on social and political change in Serbia. The central focus was on students from the University of Belgrade, who shared their personal experiences from recent protests, their motivations for participating in social movements, and the role of youth in building a democratic society.
In addition to the students, the conversation was enriched by contributions from:
· Dan Banik, Professor at the University of Oslo
· Claudia Matthes, Professor at Humboldt University in Berlin
· Nemanja Džuverović, Professor at the Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Belgrade
They offered comparative insights and academic perspectives, reflecting on historical and contemporary examples of youth resistance in different political contexts.
