There are many pieces of music written for and about Scouting America. Most have faded into obscurity over the years. One particular piece of music was “composed expressly for and dedicated to the Boy Scouts of America by John Philip Sousa.” When The Boy Scout of America March was performed for the first time, Sousa, his publisher, and critics agreed this was possibly his best composition ever.
