Shaping Douglas fir for some arched windows from the 1920's. This is not a common sill detail. Typically sills are half lapped on the side but I think they had to mortise the sills in the way they did because of the shape on the legs will not allow for a half lap. Or you would need to scribe and remove the leg and that would be rather difficult I suspect. I'm not a huge fan of this design since water can get trapped But also I would never of had to do this repair if these windows had not been so heavily neglected. Neglect is always the culprit.
