To visit the Poas Volcano you do not need a 4x4 car, the roads all the way up to the crater are paved. Just go early in the morning, have a reservation to enter the National Park Poas Volcano, and see the crater. Make sure to take proper clothes! It’s fresh up there and sometimes it rains a little.
