Due to various reasons, baby elephants get orphaned and become unable to survive in the wild alone. These elephants are taken to the Elephant orphanage at pinnawala and are well looked after. After being with the humans we are unable to release them to the wild as they will not be accepted by the other wild elephants after human contact. So they are well looked after at the elephant Orphanage.
