The lake effect snow machine will continue to churn out heavy snow squalls through the day. Periods of heavy snow and gusty winds will give way to traveling impacts. Snow will remain steady out east in the snowbelt. Expect severe traveling disruptions east of the Cleveland along I-90 and Highway 20.
Take it snow if have any traveling plans. Guidance has the heaviest area of snowfall in the heart of the snowbelt through Friday night. Weather Impact Alert days will continue through Friday night. This is a localize, wind-driven event. Where snow bands persist accumulations will be higher.
Lake snow will wrap up west-to-east by Friday and Saturday morning. Cloudy skies will linger Saturday with temperatures in the 30s. Ideally, Saturday will be the day to travel back. Our next system will be arriving late Saturday night into Sunday bringing widespread snow to the area.
Models are coming into agreement on the timing and track on the first major winter storm of the season this weekend. This will cause major disruptions to travel heading out of the holiday weekend locally and regionally.
