Happy International Pathology Day! 🧬🔬
Today we celebrate the vital role pathology plays in advancing global health and improving patient care.
For this year’s International Pathology Day, we toured the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OFPS), home of the Forensic Pathology Residency Training Program at the University of Toronto’s Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology (LMP).
“Forensic pathology is the application of science and medicine to questions of medicolegal significance, and the principal role of the forensic pathologist depends on where you work in the world. In Ontario, the principal duties that we perform are medicolegal autopsies within the coroner system,” explains Dr. Andrew Williams, Program Director of the Forensic Pathology Residency.
