Mannis Branch Falls - a TRUE Hidden Gem in the Great Smoky Mountains!

Mannis Branch Falls is a true hidden gem in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park! Thousands of people pass by nearly every day without ever knowing this beauty is right under their noses. The falls are viewable road-side during the winter months (if you know where to look), but the lush green foliage of spring and summer keep this 30' waterfall hidden from the masses.

Recent rains called me to the Smokies to go waterfall chasing and this beauty was high on my list. To see the falls this time of year requires an adventurous crossing of Little River and then a very short creek walk up Mannis Branch itself. With the higher water, I considered making the crossing at a different time, but that consideration was short lived, lol. My trekking poles were necessary to stay upright in the fast moving cool mountain water.

There are other ways to reach the falls, but that requires a bit longer off-trail hike that I had not mapped for this particular trip.
