Luke Lindberg, President, and CEO of South Dakota Trade, discusses his job and how it relates to exporting in general, and exporting from South Dakota specifically. He also serves as part of the Board of Directors for the National Association of District Export Councils, which represents small and medium exporters across the country.
Luke explains his role in helping small and medium sized business get their goods overseas. Also, Luke believes we should tie our aid dollars to the purchase of US goods or outcomes that we are seeking, and he elaborates on this topic.
Luke discusses the misunderstanding on trade agreements and why in some countries those have been problematic.
In addition to exports (of $7billlion/year), South Dakota has diversified in other businesses, and he explains. He wraps it up by encouraging exporting and suggests those who wish to export, get in touch with their state trade agency and suggests other alternatives for checking out.
