This is Combat Wrestling: a new match type within the GRPL format that blends our signature Submission Wrestling rules with controlled striking. Just like in our standard matches, chokes are the only allowed submissions – no joint locks, no neck cranks, just clean, decisive finishes.

What’s different? In Combat Wrestling, both athletes wear gloves, and body strikes are allowed. This small but powerful addition makes the matches even more intense, forcing fighters to adapt, react, and push the pace. It also serves as a perfect stepping stone for athletes looking to transition into Mixed Martial Arts while staying grounded in technical grappling.
