SCAD VFX 210 – Final Project | Modeling, Texturing, Lighting & Animation
This is my final project for SCAD’s VFX 210 course, showcasing a complete 3D asset pipeline from modeling to final real-time animation. The piece was built from the ground up, starting with polygonal modeling in Maya, moving into detailed texturing in Substance Painter, and finishing with lighting, rendering, and animation inside Unreal Engine.
Pipeline Breakdown:
• Modeling in Maya – Hard-surface blockout, edge flow refinement, and clean UV layout
• Texturing in Substance Painter – Hand-painted materials, smart masks, roughness variation, and realistic surface detail
• Importing to Unreal Engine – Material setup, LODs, collision, and real-time shader adjustments
• Lighting & Rendering – Cinematic lighting using Unreal’s real-time tools
• Camera Animation – Smooth cinematic moves to showcase form, texture, and silhouette
• Final Output – Rendered in Unreal Engine for high-quality, real-time results
This project highlights my developing skills in 3D modeling, surfacing, real-time lighting, and cinematic presentation within a game engine environment.
