Hosted by James Temte (Senior Director of Indigenous Research & Community Engagement, Alaska Pacific University), featuring speakers Melissa Shaginoff (Alaska Specialist, Outreach and Engagement Planning Office, National Museum of the American Indian, Smithsonian Institution) and Aaron Leggett (President/Chief of the Native village of Eklutna, Senior Curator of Alaska History and Culture at the Anchorage Museum) who shared experience of their research, activities and perspectives on Land Acknowledgement and Importance of recognizing history and local Indigenous people in infrastructure, landscapes, and place.
This project builds upon two significant initiatives: the NNA-CO Convergence Working Group (CWG) on Infrastructure Futures and the RATIC initiative (Rapid Arctic Transitions due to Infrastructure and Climate Change). It broadens the network of scholars studying infrastructure by actively involving communities and other stakeholders.
