Katherine MacLean (1925-2019) was a laboratory technician who wrote some excellent SF on the side, and is most known for her short stories in the golden age. She won a Nebula award in 1971, and was awarded the Cordwainer Smith Rediscovery Award in 2011. She was married to SF author Charles Dye for a few years and it seems several of his stories were actually hers, or maybe collaborations. She was later married a few years to SF author David Mason.
