Join Chelom to talk about how the simple practice of staying present in the moment and using curiosity instead of judgment can improve the connection you and your partner experience during sex. Her research has shown that couples who are mindful during sex create a better environment, feel more emotionally connected, and have better physical functioning. Learn how a few simple practices can strength your relationship and develop more meaning in your interactions.
Dr. Leavitt grew up in Yakima, Washington with seven sisters and one brother. She attended BYU as an undergraduate in Economics and then went to J. Reuben Clark Law School. She practiced family and estate law for years and then returned to get her master’s degree in Marriage, Family, and Human Development. In 2010 Dr. Leavitt was invited to be a Fulbright Fellow in Ukraine and teach in Shevchenko University in Kyiv.
Dr. Leavitt received her PhD from Penn State. She is an Assistant Professor at Brigham Young University. She studies healthy sexuality in committed relationships and focuses on how mindfulness during sex may be associated with positive outcomes for both men and women. Dr. Leavitt recently published in the Journal of Sex Research on how women’s sexual response cycles are more variable than the traditional models suggest and in the Journal of Sexual Medicine on the curvilinear association between women’s orgasm and sexual and relational satisfaction.
Dr. Leavitt is married to David Leavitt and they have nine children ranging from 32 years old to 5 years old. They also have seven grandkids.
