Today we head into the Tabernas desert and visit the old iron ore kilns that were so important to the area at the turn of the last century.
From there we head to the Stelvio of Almeria, a mountain pass that links the towns of Velifique and Bacares. 29 hairpins over 13kms with a gradient of 14%, so a very similar gradient to the real Stelvio pass! From the top you can see the Tabernas desert and La Alpujarra, the foot hills of the Sierra Nevada, well, if there are no clouds!
