Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor. I abandon my channel crossing to find refuge from building gale force winds at nearby Smuggler's Cove on Santa Cruz Island. A little regrouping turns into R&R and I end up riding out the storm for the night. The high winds left confused seas and a bumpy, lumpy start to my sail back to Ventura.
