Margarita Mantis - "Bridge of Life" Vocal & Bass Tracking (Studio Rough Mix Montage)

Hello everyone! Last week I recorded vocals and I also recorded bass guitar for my song “Bridge of Life.” I had a really fun time not only tracking my voice but also the bass! ❤️💗❤️
This is because I did something a little different than what I normally do :))
I imagined this song to be very atmospheric and saw potential in encapsulating that in some synths, preferably in some very electro-sounding ones. After I’d written those, the song became quite airy, and I wondered what could be missing/off. I have already added a bass synth to the song and then realized that this was the perfect opportunity to give “free reign” to the bass guitar to play all those wonderful riffs and give a grungy touch, for the bass synth already had layered a solid low-end foundation.
As a last-minute idea, I added some additional percussion (the shakers), to tie the rhythm together, which is hopefully more evident once the song is mixed! I also experimented with some folk instruments such as the Erhu! Which would definitely be more audible in the final version of this song 😊💕

I might just continue doing this kind of “bass synth with bass guitar” thing in some of my future songs and songs off of this upcoming album, since I believe it’s a very clever technique for experimentation with low frequencies.
