We visited Kimende Town in Lari Constituency, Kiambu County — a calm and scenic town right along the Nairobi–Nakuru highway, near the border of Kiambu and Nakuru counties. Known for its cold climate, green landscapes, and rich agricultural land, Kimende sits close to the Aberdare Forest and offers stunning views of the Great Rift Valley.
During our visit, we explored the local market, which is under renovation, giving hope for future development. We also ventured into the interior parts of Kimende, passed by a beautiful river, and even had a meal at a local food joint — giving us a real taste of life in the area. The town has both old and new buildings, and while the main road is tarmacked, most of the interior roads are still marrum and can be quite rough, especially during rainy seasons.
Despite being a relatively large town in size, Kimende has a small population, with most residents depending on farming — especially vegetables, maize, and dairy. The security is generally good, but some interior parts need better lighting and waste disposal.
