This song is about a girl who meets a young hero during his journey. She doesn't view him as a symbol or an idol, but as a person. She doesn't question what he's been through or what he's done.

Instead she offers him a place to rest and a shoulder to lean on. She explains to him that he doesn't have to give up on his journey in order to rest, to feel safe, if only for a little while.

Throughout his journey, the hero returns to her home to rest and she convinces him he doesn't have to be alone or try to do everything by himself.

As the years pass and he gets stronger and faces greater hardships, the two grow closer. One day he comes back after losing a close friend, unable to express his grief.

It's then she tells him, it's ok to cry. He mourns for his lost friend in the arms of the woman he's grown to love. She tells him that whenever he feels like he can't keep going, she'll be there for him.

Eventually, he tells her his quest is almost over. All that's left is his journey to the demon king's castle to confront him and end the war.

She tells him that she'll be waiting for him and when he comes back, they can be together and be happy, he can be a regular person instead of a symbol everyone looks to for hope. She makes him promise to come back to her, no matter what.

Years pass and he still hasn't returned, but she never loses hope and believes he's still out there, fighting. Each evening she stands outside in the twilight, waiting for him. Finally, one night as she turns to go inside, she hears him call out to her, having finally kept his promise and come back.

I wanted to try making a more hopeful song after making a song about a boy who was forced to carry on the will of his sister who was the hero, a genocide route Undertale song about Frisk breaking under the weight of countless deaths and just wanting it to end and a song about a fallen hero sacrificing himself to save his friends.
