Why #india is not officially announcing the name Bhārata.

Why are we still allowing other countries to call us Indians or India?

why are we still carrying this colonial baggage ?

‘Bharat' is the official name of India as per Article 1 of the Constitution of India, which states - ‘India, that is Bharat, shall be a Union of States...’

It is also an ancient name for the subcontinent.

Vishnu #Purana clearly, mentions:

उत्तरं यत्समुद्रस्य हिमाद्रेश्चैव दक्षिणम् ।वर्षं तद् भारतं नाम भारती यत्र संततिः ।।

(uttaraṃ yatsamudrasya himādreścaiva dakṣiṇamvarṣaṃ tadbhārataṃ nāma bhāratī yatra santatiḥ)

It means,

“The country that lies north of the ocean and south of the snowy mountains is called Bhāratam; there dwell the descendants of #Bharata.”

So according to Puranas the name is Bharatham.
