In this video, I take a fresh look at the classic Canon EF 35-135mm f/3.5-4.5 AFD from 1988—this time on my Canon EOS R5. I previously tested this lens on the Sony A7III, but my first copy had some issues. Now, with a flawless second copy, I’m putting it through its paces again.

We’ll cover autofocus performance, build quality, and handling, and take a deep dive into the optical performance across the zoom range—from 35mm all the way to 135mm. You’ll see unedited RAW samples for a true look at image quality, as well as edited JPEGs processed in Lightroom.

Along the way, I’ll share tips on dealing with vignetting and distortion, discuss lens hood recommendations, and explain quirks like “onion ring” bokeh. Plus, I’ll show you how a Lightroom profile from a different Canon zoom can be used to correct some of this lens’s optical flaws.

In diesem Video werfe ich einen neuen Blick auf das klassische Canon EF 35-135mm f/3.5-4.5 AFD aus dem Jahr 1988 – diesmal an meiner Canon EOS R5. Zuvor hatte ich dieses Objektiv bereits an der Sony A7III getestet, allerdings hatte mein erstes Exemplar einige Probleme. Jetzt, mit einer einwandfreien zweiten Version, teste ich es erneut.

Ich bespreche die Autofokus-Performance, die Verarbeitungsqualität und das Handling und gehe detailliert auf die optische Leistung im gesamten Zoombereich von 35mm bis 135mm ein. Ihr seht unbearbeitete RAW-Dateien für einen realistischen Eindruck der Bildqualität sowie in Lightroom bearbeitete JPEGs.

Außerdem gebe ich Tipps zum Umgang mit Vignettierung und Verzeichnung, spreche über die passende Gegenlichtblende und erkläre Besonderheiten wie das „Zwiebelmuster“ im Bokeh.
