(1 - The EPIC Open Air Solo!) South Pennine Community Transport Optare Solo: T14 GWR

(Christmas Countdown 2025 - Day 1/25)

This motor's a gem that I completely forgot I recorded! All the way back in October 2023, I attended that year's South Yorkshire Transport Trust Open Day - One of two they usually host through the year.

The first of two recordings from this event that I never got round to uploading at the time, was this classic Optare Solo, which was new to Regal Busways in August 2006 as their 201. It passed to First Devon And Cornwall (First Kernow) in 2014 as their 53503, Briefly passing to First Buses Of Somerset (Somerset And Avon) in 2015, and returning to Cornwall not too long after. In 2020, it was painted Great Western Railway Green and given the registration T14 GWR for the two GWR Shuttle services in St Erth and Penzance, that didn't last very long, and then was converted into it's one of a kind "Open Air" configuration that it has today, when First Kernow removed it's rear windows for use on The Mousehole service, but safety issues prevented it's use, and so, it saw little to no use.

South Pennine Community Transport purchased the bus in 2023, Renumbering it 901, with this having been it's first ever public appearance. It's since been painted into their standard livery, and sees a surprising amount of use on their normal services around Yorkshire and beyond!
