In this video, I drive through the lower North Shore suburb of Waverton.
Waverton is a harbourside suburb located 4km north of the Sydney central business district, which boasts a village like appeal. Its commercial area contains a small number of stores and cafes.
Despite its short proximity to the city, Waverton is a quiet suburb, which provides stunning views of the harbour; including the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the city skyline.
Today I will visit the Coal Loader Centre for Sustainability and Balls Head Reserve. The former originally functioned as a transfer depot for coal, and operated from the early 1920s to the 1990s.
The adjoining Balls Head Reserve is a forested headland, with numerous picnic spots. You can also see historic Aboriginal art sites and rock engravings as you meander through the short, but easy trails.
Balls Head Reserve also servers as a great vantage point to watch the New Years Eve fireworks on the harbour.
I hope you enjoy the video.
