As we approach the anniversary of the 2021 winter storm that knocked out the hashtag#Texas grid, here’s what’s changed to make the grid more reliable and cheaper for Texans. (Hint: it’s not natural gas.)

Since 2021, Texas has added over 15 GW of new solar capacity—more than the rest of the country combined. With over 100 GW of new capacity planned, Texas is on track to outshine California in solar power.

On top of that, Texas has rapidly installed 6.5 GW of battery capacity and is doubling down to increase that number.

It's not policy driving these changes, it's straight up economic viability.
