“L.A. 2420”
Neon veins pulse through the city’s steel skin,
Endless towers stretch, but no stars get in.
Rain slicks the streets in a chemical glow,
Echoes of engines hum soft and low.
L.A. Woman still rides the midnight line,
Her laughter lost in the static of time.
She whispers through wires, a ghost in the grid,
Reminding the dreamers of what they once did.
Crowds flow like rivers with nowhere to go,
Faces lit blue by the billboard’s show.
Comfort seeps in like a sedative drum,
We’ve all tuned out—become comfortably numb.
Plastic sunsets over hologram sand,
Freeways float through a no-man’s land.
Tomorrow arrived, but forgot to bring light,
So we live in the shadow of perpetual night.
Still somewhere, beneath circuits and rain,
A wild heart beats, refusing the chain.
L.A. keeps calling, in whispers and roar,
A city, a fever, a myth to explore.
