Pilot Ryan Thompson pretends plane is about to crash — just before proposing to his girlfriend

He SURE took her for a ride! That joke just earned him a life sentence — marriage!

Romantic? Or just "plane" crazy?

A pilot tricked his girlfriend into believing that their plane was about to crash — right before he popped the question.

Ryan Thompson and his bride-to-be were flying over Chicago when he told her that the plane's controls were malfunctioning.

"Honey, I need you to remain calm," Thompson says, as the ride starts to get bumpy.

Thompson gives his visibly shaken girlfriend a sheet of paper containing emergency procedures and asks her to read it aloud. "The checklist is complete ... and it says the rings may be engaged ... and to initiate the ring engagement procedure," his girlfriend reads.

And she wasn't the only one who was wowed.

"OH MY WORD! You guys had me in tears! Such a fantastic way of being asked for your hand in marriage. I wish you all the best for your future," YouTube user Charmaine Palm wrote.

"Smooth. Just like a good landing. Cheers, and all the best," user Pilot2011able added.
Thompson, however, doesn't exactly win the award for the most frightening proposal.
