Taking Ollie Night Fishing for His First Gummy Shark Western Port

In this episode of Kiwi’s Adventure, I take Ollie out for a night session in Western Port Bay with one clear goal put him onto his first ever gummy shark, with snapper firmly on the cards.

After weeks of strong westerlies and rough conditions, we finally found a small weather window and decided to run up around the Fingers. The run out wasn’t comfortable, with wind against tide and solid swell, but once we tucked in around the far side of French Island, the conditions settled and the night fishing began.

This session focuses on fishing narrow channels, timing the incoming tide, and why I prefer to fish with the lights off in certain areas of Western Port. No rush, no numbers just fishing it properly and letting the conditions do their thing.

Add in a serious lack of sleep, a long day beforehand, and a 3–4am grind, and you’ve got a proper night session from start to finish.
