Le Galion is a name that once shaped French perfume culture. Founded in 1930 and guided by Paul Vacher, the house scented actresses, private salons, and the famous Stork Club in New York. It disappeared for decades until its thoughtful revival in 2014.
In this video, I walk through three bottles from my collection to understand the character of this house.
• Tilleul, inspired by the silver linden tree in the garden of Le Galion’s private hotel in Neuilly
• L’Astre, based on the private perfume Paul Vacher created for Ava Gardner and released publicly in 2023
• Sortilège, the historic floral that helped define the brand and still feels cultivated and elegant today
These are the only three bottles I own at the moment, but they convinced me that the rest of the collection is worth discovering.
If you want more depth, you can read my full interview with Nicolas Chabot, the man who brought Le Galion back, on Elevated Classics. It covers history, stewardship, and why some perfumes deserve to stay alive rather than be archived. https://elevated-classics.com/how-le-...
I would love to hear your thoughts. Which fragrance intrigues you most?
