"When Julia turned 10 Daniel and David gifted her the Joni Mitchell 'Hits' CD and from that day forward, the Christina Aguilera and Britney albums could not compete with the growing stack of Joni CDs. After watching Joni Mitchell perform ‘Coyote’ in Martin Scorsese’s The Last Waltz (a movie staple in our house, right next to When Harry Met Sally), Julia got obsessed with the album Hejira and all the crazy guitar tunings Joni uses. ‘Coyote’ was one of the first songs that we played together as a band so we decided to do a lil cover… and indulge some musical obsessions."

We just come from such different sets of circumstance

We saw a farmhouse burning down

On the road to Baljennie near my old home town
He went running through the whisker wheat
Chasing some prize down
And a hawk was playing with him
Coyote was jumping straight up and making passes
He had those same eyes - just like yours
Under your dark glasses
Privately probing the public rooms
And peeking through keyholes in numbered doors
Where the players lick their wounds
And take their temporary lovers
And their pills and powders to get them through this passion play

Siblings David and Daniel (twins), & their sister Julia have been playing together their whole lives. Growing up in NYC with both parents being professional orchestral & chamber musicians, music has always been a centerpiece Bailen started in 2014 with their childhood friend Pierre. Their music is nostalgic with melodic hooks & a deep soulful quality, all with a modern, youthful perspective.
