Two drugs are being for their effectiveness. The first study found a statistically significant difference between the experimental and placebo groups. The second study did not find a statistically significant difference. If one study is significant and the other is not, is the drug in the significant study more effective? The difference between “significant” and “non-significant” is not itself statistically significant. We cannot compare p values; instead, report an effect size, which is comparable.
This video uses Stats Blocks to illustrate the statistical concepts of hypothesis testing. Stats Blocks were designed by Dr. Todd Daniel to explain abstract statistical concepts using concrete illustrations and inductive reasoning.
