South Salem FD Large Area Brush Fire Response

South Salem Fire Department Car 2453, Engine 167, Tanker 2, Utility 79, Engine 166, and Rescue 21, along with Vista Fire Department Tanker 4 and Car 2561 responding to a large area brush fire on Mead Street in the Town of Lewisboro, New York. A complete rundown of the units that responded is listed below.

Originally, the South Salem Fire Department was dispatched for a reported brush fire. Car 2142 from the neighboring Golden's Bridge Fire Department was in the area and reported an approximately 100 foot by 100 foot area of brush burning and rapidly spreading. Based on this information, Car 2451 requested two additional tankers to the scene. Croton Falls FD and Vista FD were assigned for one tanker each to the scene. Car 2453 was the first South Salem unit to arrive on scene and updated that the fire had expanded to approximately 300 feet by 400 feet. Car 2451 arrived on scene, established command, and requested Croton Falls FD's UTV to the scene as well. Command advised a small barn was also burning in addition to the brush. Shortly after, an engine from Golden's Bridge FD was requested to establish a water source at a nearby dry hydrant and an ambulance from Lewisboro VAC was requested to the scene for rehab. Command reported all visible fire was knocked down and companies were hitting hot spots after approximately 30 minutes of operation. All units were clear of the scene and back in service after roughly 90 minutes of operation.
