Tie-dye pattern : Lightning Swirl (Super Spiral)

Tie-dye pattern : Lightning Swirl (Super Spiral) t-shirt instructions.

1. T-Shirt has been washed and soaked in soda ash (1 cup soda ash per 1 gallon of warm water) for 20 minutes then spun out in the washer so the material is damp but not dripping wet.

2. Clamp hemostat in the middle of the t-shirt and begin to spiral twisting the hemostat whichever way is comfortable to you while holding the fabric down and maneuvering the fabric with the other hand as to prevent the pleats from being to large (tweezers optional for pleat size control). For a Super Spiral I recommend tweezers or using your finger nails to really straighten and separate the pleats while keeping them as small as possible.

3. Secure the spiral with rubber bands and carefully remove hemostat using a slight wiggle motion as not to rip the fabric.

4. Choose you dye colors. For my tie-dye Lightning Swirl (Super Spiral) I chose Turquoise, Robins Egg Blue, and Raven. Follow dye mixing instructions for the specific brand of dye you are using and dye your t-shirt following the video instructions.

5. Allow your t-shirt to sit undisturbed for 24 hours then rinse starting with cold water to remove the soda ash. Increase water temperature to warm/hot while squeezing the material to remove the excess dye.

6. Remove your rubber bands and open your new Tie-dye Lightning Swirl (Super Spiral) T-Shirt!

7. Wash the t-shirt by itself with hot water (I use Synthrapol Textile Detergent) without fabric softener and hang dry for the first time. After that, wash and dry like normal.
