A surge of federal officers is cracking down on immigration in Minnesota after fresh allegations of fraud against day cares run by Somali residents.
Meanwhile, members of the American Somali community in Oregon say the national rhetoric surrounding the investigations is causing a myriad of hateful comments on social media and fear in the local Somali community.
"Don't be ignorant and make a judgment because you read something on social media or somebody told you -- do your own individual research," said Musse Olol, president of the Somali American Council of Oregon.
