In this video we'll be building a PVC bow with PVC siyahs. This bow uses a slightly different technique than the flattened PVC bow with wooden siyahs. It's a much more straightforward method, but the results are a little different.

This method requires no adjustment after the siyahs are inserted. Basically all you do is flatten the pipe, shape the handle, and then insert the siyahs and you are done. The other method requires patient adjustment and tweaking to get the bow balanced and performing perfectly.

While it is easier, the bow will be more stressed near the handle and will not perform as well as a balanced bow of the other style. So that's the tradeoff. I find that reinforcing the handle of the bow from the inside increases performance, but it can lead to stability problems with such a small section of working limb.

While this bow was done with PVC siyahs, this will also work with wood siyahs or other inserted tips/siyahs. The same technique also works with schedule 80 pipe bows, just keep in mind that the siyahs should either be made of schedule 80 pipe or heavier, more dense woods.

3/4" Schedule 40 PVC pipe, 48 inches long (1.05in outer diameter, 0.12in thick walls; 26mm outer diameter, 3mm thick walls)

The heating trough is made of a non-conductive base like cardboard or wood shaped like a gutter, v-channel, or round tube covered in a reflective material like aluminum foil or flashing.
