Fitzcarraldo is a pretty good movie, but it left a bad taste in my mouth. I don't recommend it.
No real novel content or ideas here, just paraphrasing wikipedia, but basically nobody else on this platform has talked about this subject at all.
It's annoying that a historically significant event like this can have failed to penetrate the public sphere. The beast's propaganda machine was successful in this avenue of history.
Hopefully one of the non-hack history channels will make an essay covering it. But I'm not holding my breath.
