Note: I had the pedal set to “Studio” mode which adds 10db of headroom. I highly recommend you do this otherwise the sweep of the Saturation control is much less functional for harmonica.
Here is a long overview of how you can use a Strymon Deco for blues harmonica.
Some corrections. I state I use a Bandmaster, that is wrong. I’m using a Bassman. I also mention the fact later in the video the “bounce” delay is described as an echo bouncing off a wall. That is incorrect, that would be the “invert” mode.
During the last few minutes I kept it on cassette mode. Unintentional, but cassette mode utilizes an Auto Limiter which really shines when playing at lower volumes as it kills volume dynamics, allowing you to play softer or harder and the volume won’t change too much, but the sound will compress a bit more. It reminds me of when you play through a smaller amp at lower volumes. This mode limits your volume capabilities but it sounds fantastic.
I am a professional full time musician, if you feel so inclined I take tips for my reviews and such. @zackpomerleau is my venmo. Thank you!!!
