How to Get Cigarette Smoke Smell Out of Vinyl Doll Kits

I purchased some reborn kits on eBay from a seller that disclosed that there was a smoker in the home. The kits came with that distinctive smell (I'm very sensitive), so I decided to look up ways to get rid of it. Here they are in the order I tried them:
1. Air outside for several days
2. Fill shallow dishes with vinegar. Place around the kits in a closed room for several days.
3. Sprinkle with baking soda (inside and out) and leave for several hours. Turn kits and repeat.
4. Soak and then scrub in a solution of 1/4 c. vinegar, 1/2 c. ammonia, 1/4 c. washing soda, and 1 gallon hot water. Wear gloves. To make washing soda, bake baking soda for 1 hour at 400. This was the most effective step, so repeat this as needed, allowing the kits to dry outside in between.
