Nagalapuram is the“Queen of Waterfalls. Waterfall surrounded by forest, flowing into a natural pool & reached by a long hiking trail.

Aare waterfalls in Nagalapuram, about 90km from Chennai, have become a major attraction for city residents after they were reopened recently. The falls located in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh were closed since 2018 after some people died there and due to lack of security. They were recently opened for public with adequate security and forest rangers have been present there inviting a lot of trekkers and nature lovers. After Instagram influencers recently posted videos of the falls with gushing water, city residents have started hitting the spot in thousands.

The Aare Falls are turning out to be one of the major attractions like Tada, Talakona and Kalaisakona falls in the neighbouring state. People who visited the spot said it has a lot of potential for improvement, now that it receives a lot of crowd. Nagalapuram has three waterfalls but the government has opened only one for now. They can open the rest with adequate security. Improvement still needs to be done in terms of toilets, signboards and availability of eateries. The government can set up a livelihood opportunity for the village people there and life guards must be placed since many people died there before said visitors.

Apart from these falls, there are a dozen other small streams with hip-deep water. There's also a temple visited by several tourists. The falls opens at 9 am and closes at 3 pm. It has no access by public transport and people use private vehicles for which the parking charges is 300 while entry chargers per person is 50. Visitors said the falls is crowded in the weekends and weekdays were ideal for a visit.
