In this video, I share my experience building the Real Grade Akatsuki, one of the most beautiful RG kits I’ve ever completed.
The gold-plated armor is extremely shiny and mirror-like, but it also requires extra care. The plated parts scratch very easily, you can’t sand the nubs, and panel lining on the gold surface can damage the coating. Washes should never be applied, and even top coat can leave an uneven finish.
I also talk about handling the model, dealing with fingerprints, and the action base, which becomes permanently locked once assembled.
Despite these challenges, the RG Akatsuki is a truly stunning kit. It’s unique, eye-catching, and absolutely worth building if you love this mobile suit.
