Korkut and the Keepers - Mirror's Choice | Psychedelic Anatolian Rock

"Mirrors of Alternate Selves" is a 7-track, 65-minute epic concept album that explores the terrifying and beautiful truth: we are not single beings, but collections of possibilities. Through the story of an antique dealer and a cursed Ottoman mirror called "Nazar-ı Hakikat" (The Gaze of Truth), the album takes listeners on a journey through identity crisis, temporal displacement, and ultimate self-acceptance.

Set in Antakya (Antioch), Turkey—a city layered with histories—the album blends 1970s Anatolian psychedelic rock with philosophical horror, creating a unique auditory experience about what we see when we truly look at ourselves.

An antique dealer in Antakya inherits a mysterious Ottoman mirror. At first, it seems ordinary—until 3 AM, when it fogs and shows him his reflection with different colored eyes. As he investigates, he discovers the mirror's name: "Nazar-ı Hakikat" (The Gaze of Truth). It once belonged to Ali, a boy who watched his family perish in a 1923 mansion fire through its glass. Trapped between realities, Ali's "survived self" lives in the mirror, seeking to merge with a living host.

But the terrible truth is revealed: the mirror doesn't steal identities—it reveals the alternate selves already within us. The dealer isn't being invaded; he's integrating his potential selves. By album's end, he becomes a guide for others undergoing the same transformation, and the mirror continues its eternal cycle with a new owner.
