Meet Anna Kryvenko – IAS CEU Artist in Residence 2024/25

Visual artist Anna Kryvenko, the IAS CEU Artist in Residence for 2024/25 (October 2024 – February 2025), explores the hidden stories of war and occupation in her project This House is Undamaged. Through a hybrid documentary approach, she deconstructs social media images and real-estate ads to reveal how Mariupol—devastated by the Russian invasion—has been “rebuilt” and repopulated. By examining everyday traces such as the sale of children’s clothes and the booming funeral industry, Anna invites viewers to confront the city’s transformation with a sharp, analytical eye rather than overt emotion.
