This video introduces a ready-made DCF valuation template designed to help analysts and investors value listed companies in under one hour. The model uses two primary data sources—Screener for historical financials and Market Screener for future estimates—while allowing flexibility for manual inputs.
The tutorial explains how the template is structured, clearly separating input cells (gray for historical data, light blue for estimates) from formula-driven cells (yellow). Users begin by entering key company details such as company name, currency, fiscal year-end, latest quarterly data, and valuation date.
Key financial inputs include sales, EBIT, EBITDA, capital expenditure, and working capital components, sourced directly from financial statements or Screener. The video also walks through discount rate calculation using WACC, including:
✔ Cost of equity via CAPM
✔ Beta calculated using three years of weekly stock and index data through Excel’s SLOPE function
✔ Cost of debt derived from interest expense and average debt
Assumptions around projection period and long-term growth rate—typically aligned with GDP growth or risk-free rates—are discussed. The template then automatically calculates DCF value per share, allowing direct comparison with the market price.
This is Video 3 of a 5-part valuation series, with upcoming videos applying the template to real companies and demonstrating automation of data sourcing from Screener to improve efficiency.
